This is a three- year modular programme designed to develop skills, knowledge and attitudes for teaching, administration, management and planning at the system and institutional and operational levels. The first year is for coursework while the last two years is for data collection, seminars and workshops on cross-cutting issues. They are three modules in each year.
A master’s degree in Education Administration and Management or masters degree in a related field from a recognized university. Masters in any other discipline with a minimum of two years’ experience in Management.
The Program is offered for a minimum of three years and a maximum of six years. It will be done by coursework and research. Coursework will be done in first year in three Courses with each having 2 core courses. The next two years will be for data collection, writing papers for publication and completing the thesis for examination.
This program is intended to enable PhD students:
Review and synthesize theories and fundamental principles of educational administration and management.
Critically analyze systems and the processes of formulating appropriate policies
Understand the dynamics of human behavior and its impact on organizational performance
Acquire knowledge and skills in effective organizational or Institutional leadership.
Critically analyze the different methods, approaches used in scientific research.
Upon completion of this program should be able to:
Apply recognised management and planning models in their day to day actions as managers and administrators
Demonstrate how the functions of management enhance efficiency in an organization.
Evaluate the impact of organizational culture and climate on organizational performance.
Harmonize external and internal environment for effective planning and organization of resources in their institutions.
Align appropriately affective leadership with management, administration and governance.
Develop advanced skills and competencies in Educational Research Methodology and knowledge creation.
