Programme Description Details

Master of Education in Curriculum Studies (MECS) is a two- year modular programme meant to develop skills in designing, developing, implementing and evaluating educational programs. In order to develop these competences, learner-centred approaches are employed in the teaching and learning process. MECS programme will specifically cover: Perspective and Theories of Curriculum Development, Contemporary issues in Education, Design, Production and use of instructional Resources in Education, Theories of Teaching and Learning and the implications to Practice, Learner – centered pedagogy, Online teaching and learning Strategies and methodologies. Curriculum Management and School improvement, Curriculum Evaluation and Assessment. These courses will be covered in five modules

Admission Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree (second class and above) or its equivalent from a recognized University. Applicants with lower qualifications must satisfy the Senate that they have acquired academic growth by evidence of research and publications.

Duration of the Programme

The Programme is offered for a minimum of two years and a maximum of five years. It will be done by coursework and research.  Coursework will be done in first four modules and the fifth module is four data collection and writing the dissertation.  Each module has four core courses.
