Welcome to the School of Education at Uganda Christian University! The School of Education aims to develop professionals who are fit-to-purpose in the 21st century. Through the Departments of Education and Languages and Literature, the units of Uganda Studies Programme and Honours College, students are empowered to serve in the various areas of specialisation with diligence, excellence and professional distinction. This because we believe that every learner has the capacity to excel gives that opportunity. All our curricula are tailored towards a hands-on training using up-to-date pedagogical and andragogical approaches, which enables our students to thrive in both national and international schools.
The School prides in undertaking research in Educational Administration and Management, Curriculum Design and Development, Pedagogy and Andragogy, Languages, Literary and cultural studies as well as Library and Information Science. The overall aim is to train students who will become successful problem-solving practitioners in local and global communities.
The School also runs a sustained Continuous Professional Development (CPD) via tailor-made activities while the UCU writing center facilitates students and staff of the entire UCU community to upscale their writing skills. The School of Education should be your preferred choice for your intellectual, academic and professional career growth.
Currently, the School of Education runs 15 programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels all of which are housed in the Department of Education and the Department of Languages and Literature.
School of education has various Diploma and Bachelors programmes spanning over 2 intakes; Easter (January) and Trinity (May).
The University offers a number of Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctorate programmes throughout the year.
To conduct scientific and collaborative research grounded in Christian ethos in the fields of foundations of education, curriculum, language use and library training to generate knowledge and inform policy and practice in the education sector for quality output at national and global levels.
Our research focus areas include Education Administration and Management, Human Resource Management in Education, Pedagogy, Andragogy, Curriculum Design and Development, Language development and translation studies, Library and Information sciences, Literary and Cultural Studies.
The School of Education is partnered with Edify Uganda to conduct joint research and carry out Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities. In 2023, the School carried out CPD training for Headteachers from selected schools that work with Edify in the districts of Mukono, Wakiso, Luweero, Jinja, Kamuli, Iganga, Mpigi, Gulu.
